Cork solves the mystery of how and by whom a young woman in northern Minnesota was killed after a New Years party. While sorting through many suspects and ticking off the county sheriff by taking on the case himself, this former cop begins to examine himself, his own beliefs, and what role he should play as a citizen of his small Minnesota town.
