My brother sam is a good book becasue it helps you understand the colonial period, and how life was back in the revolutionary war. My class has read the book this past month. our teacher helps us understand the words by making us look them up when we are reading the book. as i have read the book i now understand some of the words, and i us them in my life know. over all my brother same is dead is a very good book.

On the saddest day in a Tory town a young 16 year old boy by the name of Sam Meeker is hanged by his general in blue, General Wooster. He was basically an example for the other soldiers to let them know that if they make a foolish mistake like Sam did, what happened to Sam will happen to them, too. The whole reason Sam was hung was because 2 guys were drunk and were cattle thieves. They took cattle from behind the Meekers' tavern. They made Sam mad and Sam had to chase after them. They were way ahead of Sam, because they got a head start, and was able to get to the General in time to tell him that Sam went around stealing cattle from the poor people in the Tory Town. Sams' 13 year old brother comfronted the general telling him that Sam didn't do it and who really did but he didn't believe him. After Tim talked to him for about the 6th time the general had gotten enough and didn't want to hear it because he had already made up his mind. Sam was scared and was proud of his family after his father had died from being thrown onto a prison ship that made him freeze after spending 3 years in a freeze tomb. The people who captured him threw him out into the sea after he died and no one knows what happened after that. His Family triedto survive in the Tory Town Tavern and wasn't able to survive it. After 2 months of it they gave it up to incourage Sam to keep up the fighting for freedom. Sam died and so did the two other guys that blamed Sam because the general wasn't sure who really stole the cattle. Tim and his mother never like the war after that experience EVER AGAIN!!!!!
