Synopsis: The starting point of this attempt to "recast the Christian truth" is the experience of the two world wars and of the veritable end of the "old world" with all its implications for the "new world." The old order has destroyed itself and, therefore, none of the pre-war institutions, neither State nor Church, can rebuild the Western world. Christianity is bankrupt but it is not refuted, and the task is to reinterpret its central dogmas of death and life, of cross and resurrection in terms intelligible to the modern mind.
