I first heard Marion Nestle on NPR and then ended up searching the NPR site for all her interviews and appearances. She's warm, and folksy with a no-nonsense attitude. She despises marketing scams that seduce consumers into believing that products are more nutritious than reality, and she finds food industry politics despicable. When this professor of nutrition sets out to write a tome on what the average consumer should eat, confronted by the array of choices a modern supermarket offers, Ms. Nestle is refreshingly candid with what she knows and extremely clear about issues where the jury is still out. If you want nutrition advice that is not biased by commercialism or a political agenda of any kind, I recommend this book to your rescue.
