The Crucible is a classic play, taking place during the Salem Witch Trials in Massachusetts. It is very informative both about the time, and the beliefs of both the Puritans and witchcraft. It is a fast read, consisting of four acts, and a small number of pages. It is interesting from beginning to end, without a moment of lag. It has multiple storylines, all coming together in one trial. Each character makes the play work out to a close. There is Abigail, who is sneaky and conniving. She frames her friends, and hangs her enemies. However, she makes the play work. Without her it would be nothing. I would recommend the Crucible to anyone. It is not just a classic to grow dusty on a bookshelf. It is really interesting. It has some mature themes such as hanging and adultery, so younger readers may not enjoy it as much. However, it is a fast, entertaining, and informative read, and I recommend it to all.
