- Synopsis
- Poor Babette! Everybody in the third grade thinks she's weird! Maybe it's because she doesn't exactly tell the truth all the time. First of all, her name really isn't Babette--it's plain old Jane. Her mother isn't a famous movie star, and her father never shot elephants in the jungle, either. Ms. Sims, Babette's teacher, thinks of a plan to help Babette tell the truth. It won't be easy, but Babette knows she has to try. If she doesn't stop lying soon, she'll be the loneliest kid in Southside Elementary! Bored with school, Jane, a precocious reader, neglects her homework and alienates her classmates by making up incredible stories about herself until her teacher, Ms. Sims, finds a creative solution.
