- Synopsis
- The Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovak Republic, and Slovenia all joined the European Union in 2004. The next major step of European integration for these countries is adoption of the Euro. This volume presents 10 papers by country officials, academics, representatives of international institutions, and market participants examining different issues arising from the adoption of the Euro in the eight new EU members. Papers explore the preconditions for successful Euro adoption, the role of monetary independence, real convergence and Euro adoption, and strategies for adoption. Each paper is accompanied by a commentary. Annotation ©2006 Book News, Inc. , Portland, OR (booknews. com)
