- Synopsis
- “Fate of a Distant Future” is a collection of loosely connected stories. These short tales form a prequel to an up-and-coming space opera I plan to write. I want my readers to get to know some background of the story before the main novel. I enjoy Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, and other sci-fi movies or books. Whether A, B, or C-grade sci-fi, it’s worth reading or watching. As a Filipino-Australian, I am particularly proud of the best Philippine sci-fi movie, “Alimuom”, by director Keith Sicat, a man who will no doubt be one day credited as the Philippine contemporary of Gene Roddenberry. The novella is nothing as elaborate as any of the above books and films mentioned, but a straightforward tale that reads like the TV series Black Mirror. The illustrations in the book set the scene for a future that, I hope, the Philippines will one day experience.
