This book surprised me in a good way. I feared it may be an over-the-top doomsday plea but actually it was a tremendous history of the sun and it's dynamic relationship to all things on earth. My interests were addressed in the last third of the book: sunspot activity peaking this year and the threat of large electromagnetic pulses wiping out the electric grid and other electronic devices for months and months. It is terrifying because the power industry has not prepared. Another reason to start stockpiling food! There is well supported science in this book but it's written for the lay reader and is easy to read.
