Beyond the Lean Revolution
- Synopsis
-
The authors of this work advocate transformation beyond typical Lean measures focused on individual departments, and instead present a framework for helping each department of an enterprise work together. The seven principles they present offer a holistic approach, with emphasis on aspects such as buy-in from stakeholders and leaders, awareness of internal and external enterprise inter-dependencies, and organizational learning. The book gives advice on strategic planning, performance measurement, communicating the transformation plan, and implementing projects and tracking their progress. Summary tables and chapter key points are included. Appendices offer a Lean enterprise self-assessment tool, case studies, and a brief comparison to other process analysis approaches. Nightingale directs MIT's Center for Technology, Policy, and Industrial Development. Srinivasan is a research scientist at MIT's Lean Advancement Institute.
