- Synopsis
- Antonia Redmond, the child of American parents, grew up in Tanzania. After studying medicine in the US, she has returned to work in a small hospital in Africa. When she meets a young African woman, Esther Moro, who seems to have the power to heal through touch, Antonia begins to question her ideas about science and medicine. The novel interweaves the lives of these two powerful women against the backdrop of a continent shaken by political upheaval yet still rooted in tradition.
