Synopsis
The author belongs to the Sephardim but did not know her true identity as a Jew until 1999 when her 87 year-old father finally confirmed her feeling that she is Jewish. She wrote this story in order to help other people who are struggling with their identities as the result of being a persecuted minority. [THE FOLLOWING QUOTES ARE TAKEN FROM THE BACK COVER OF THE BOOK:] “These lost Sephardim (Spanish Crypto-Jews) were thought to have disappeared, after their forced expulsion in the 1492 Spanish Inquisition. The full effect in the Iberian Peninsula (later Portugal) sent them scattering to the New World and elsewhere. The Prophet Obadiah (Ovadia) expressed this Torah version of return to Israel by their descendants many centuries ago (Obadiah 1:20-21).
