The book starts interestingly enough with the hero Gabe visiting the pyramids in Egypt with his family. There is a silly bit where the hero is thirsty and does not get any water to drink. The parents then get called away on business and our hero's adventures begin. Gabe is left to the care of his geologist uncle Ben and Sari who is Uncle Ben's know-it- all daughter. Gabe and Sari have several adventures in which most of the time Gabe is too scared to do anything constructive. There is very little sense of atmosphere towards the climax of the book. The best part of the book is the attempted kidnapping of Gabe and Sari by Ahmed the overseer from the university. The book is perhaps meant to be scary but there are too many situations where Gabe is scared and not enough creation of atmosphere. Written by Pranav Lal.
