Synopsis: Bridge construction inspection is a critical component in fulfilling the mission of state departments of transportation (DOTs) and the U.S. Federal Highway Administration to deliver high-performing transportation systems that adhere to or surpass specified quality standards. NCHRP Synthesis 649: Bridge Construction Inspection Training: Resources and Practices, from TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program, collects resources and documents practices used by state DOTs in training and setting qualifications of the bridge construction inspection workforce.
