- Synopsis
- The Beautiful Girl Who Turned Ugly is a gripping story about Amaidang, a very beautiful girl from Kaukotoit village. However, this girl eventually becomes ugly. The king of that region declares that his son wants to marry and he must marry a girl from Kaukotoit village. The prince then states that the girl he wishes to marry is one who has tattoos that look natural, on her face. He then instructs that such a girl should be taken to him. The village girls try their best in getting such tattoos but it is all in vain because no human tattooist could make such marks. Amaidang, a naturally beautiful girl, could not afford to pay a tattooist though she also wished to get the beauty marks and marry the prince. One day, while in the forest looking for firewood, she meets Emorototo, a python. Amaidang helps Emorototo in some way and for payback; the python makes very beautiful natural looking tattoos on Amaidang's face, which enable her to marry the prince. However, she promises Emorototo something, a promise she does not keep. Read on and find out what happened. Apart from being an interesting story, The Beautiful Girl Who Turned Ugly will also enrich the learners, grammatically. Furthermore, there are relevant assessment questions at the end of the story, to ensure that the learners get maximum benefits. The story is suitable for learners in upper primary, especially in class 6, 7 and 8.
