- Synopsis
- The objective of this text-atlas is to examine the bicuspid aortic valve syndrome (BAV) holistically. The various chapters deal with epidemiology, morphological spectrum, embryology, associated congenital heart disease, genetics and familiarity, natural history, including clinically relevant valve complications (stenosis, regurgitation, endocarditis) and/or vascular complications affecting the thoracic aorta (dilatation, aneurysm, dissection) that require close clinical follow-up. In addition, multimodal imaging and surgical and transcatheter therapeutic options will be described.
