- Synopsis
- After a professor's unexplained death his nephew inherits documents that suggest an ancient horror is rising from the Pacific, spreading madness and murder. Stranded in a coastal backwater, a young man learns too much about its sullen inhabitants and attempts to flee in the dead of night. A German sub commander, plagued by disturbing accidents, is drawn to a temple on the ocean floor. “The Call of Cthulhu” is by far the most famous of H.P. Lovecraft’s works. The motifs featured in this classic novella have appeared in literature, film, video games and even plush toys. The Call of Cthulhu and Other Tales collects five of Lovecraft’s stories featuring the sea and the horrors therein: The Call of Cthulhu The Shadow Over Innsmouth The Temple Dagon What the Moon Brings H.P. Lovecraft wrote short fiction in the 1920s and 30s for publications such as Weird Tales. Though largely unknown during his lifetime, Lovecraft's work has inspired writers of horror and the fantastic from his contemporary August Derleth to Stephen King and Neil Gaiman.
