- Synopsis
- In Too Deep finds Jennie at the center of a criminal investigation when her chemistry teacher, Tom Mancini, is discovered dead of a drug overdose in his lab at Trinity High. The death initially appears to be a suicide, but the autopsy report tells another story. Jennie begins delving into Mancini's past in hope of uncovering possible motives and suspects, but her sleuthing turns up some very unsettling information. Jennie McGrady's summer has just settled back into a comfortable lull when her chemistry professor turns up dead from a drug overdose. A suicide note seems to close the case, but Jennie smells foul play in the lab. The challenge is convincing the police to investigate--without implicating herself in the case. Gavin Winslow fancies himself Portland's version of Clark Kent. Friendly and handsome in his own studious kind of way, Jennie values his instincts. But when he mysteriously disappears, Jennie is completely baffled. Whose side is he on? Detective Nate Rastovski is new in the homicide department and hardly eager to welcome sleuthing help from Jennie. In fact, he's far more interested in Jennie's mother. While the death of Jennie's teacher hangs unresolved, he's concentrating on the romance department--and leaving Jennie's suspicions out in the cold. Sometimes truth wears a mask... In Too Deep
