In `Dance Macabre` Stephen King writes: `Most of them [horror novels] are just downright bad... if you want to read John Saul and Frank De Felitta, go right ahead.` Well, Mr. King, I just did, and I do not agree with you. Bill and Janice Templeton have it all, a lovely apartment with a respectful doorman, financial security, their angelic little daughter, Ivy, a perfect sex life--yes, it's almost cloying enough to choke you. Inexorably, tragedy creeps near, in the unlikely guise of a gentle, haunted man who wishes only to help one, or maybe two souls in torment. Ivy's horrible nightmares wreck her room, threaten her health and drive her parents to distraction--only Mr. Hoover can calm her. The marriage slowly falls apart. An ugly court battle ensues where Janice must betray either her husband or the only person who could save Ivy. The ending is staggering. Mr. King, you should read it!
