As a lover of dance and one who doesn't conform to the typical dancerly image, I adored this book. In fact, it's up there in my personal favorites. The juxtaposition of Spider's Sci-fi creation with his wife's descriptive choreography topped with a hearty puff of hippy essence brews a colorful, psychadelic mind-trip that lifts the spirit. I especially love the descrpitions of modern dance works performed in outer space complete with jet packs to propel dancers amidst sets of floating neon cubes. I've seen a couple performances that made me ask afterward, "What inspired your piece?" "Oh, a book I read called 'Stardance".Most of all, I was inspired by the premise that one woman's demise in the earthly world of dance opened doors to a whole new galaxy of opportunity.
