To become a Bookshare member you must complete the Individual Membership form on the Bookshare website. Select “Sign Up” as an Individual US (non-student.) You will be asked to enter the following information:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Address including city, state, and zip code.
- Username (your email address) and a password you select.
When finished, you will be asked to check a box that indicates that you have reviewed the Bookshare User Agreement, then select the “Create Account” button to finish the sign up process.
Once the account has been created you must submit Proof of Disability in order to access copyrighted material. Learn more about how to submit Proof of Disability NOTE: You can access our large collection of freely available materials without submitting proof of disability including novels such as War and Peace and The Time Machine. Check out our curated list of Freely Available Books for All or search for them on the Advanced Search page by selecting “Freely Available” from the dropdown menu on the “Books to Search” field.
Once your Proof of Disability is accepted you will be prompted to activate your subscription and pay the membership fee.
