This series was recommended to me by a college friend who said she could hardly put the books down until they were finished, and neither could I. While I would not recommend this series, especially this third book to small children or people uncomfortable with vivid graphic scenes of violence, for the mature reader, it is a very thought provoking read. It made me think about parallels in our own world, where a few people are rich while the masses struggle to make ends meet, or the senselessness of the wars we are engaged in. Perhaps this series should be required reading for world leaders who would do well to realize that in the long run, humanity's use of war and oppression benefits no one, and make sure that our future real world doesn't come any closer to resembling the fate of Panem.
