How do I use Bookshare Reader on a mobile device?

Welcome to the Bookshare Reader for mobile!  

Bookshare Reader is the official reading app for Bookshare, available on the Apple App Store for Apple devices as well as Google Play Store for Android devices. With Bookshare Reader, you can access millions of ebooks from the Bookshare library and read in ways that work for you. Listen to books in high quality audio, follow along with highlighted text, and customize settings like reading speed, font size, colors and more.

Get reading! 

Students on Organizational Accounts

Students can only read books assigned by their teachers. Educators assign books on the Bookshare website using the Assign button or by creating and assigning students to Reading Lists. Assigned books automatically appear in the student’s mobile app.

Find Assigned Books

1. Log in with the student’s Bookshare username and password.
2. Go to My Library.
3. Select Filter, then choose Assignments.
4. Select a title and choose Download if needed.
5. Open the book to begin reading.
6. Downloaded books appear under Downloads in My Library.

Find Books on Reading Lists (new feature!)

1. Select the Reading Lists tab.
2. Open a list to view its titles.
3. Download a book to begin reading.

Reading Lists can be sorted by Name or Date Updated and searched by Name or keyword.

While Reading

• Use Settings to adjust audio and display preferences.
• Use the Table of Contents to navigate by chapter.

Individual Members

Individual Members can search for and read any book in the Bookshare collection on the mobile app.

1. Log in to the app with your Bookshare username and password.
2. Select Discover to search or browse recommended titles.
3. Choose a book and select Download.
4. Open the book to begin reading.

While Reading

• Use Settings to adjust audio and display preferences.
• Use the Table of Contents to navigate by chapter.

New Feature! Individual Members can now:

• Create personal Reading Lists
• Add and remove books on their Reading Lists
• Search for and subscribe to public Reading Lists

NOTE: If you use the Bookshare Reader for mobile to start reading, and want to continue reading with Bookshare Reader for web, your reading place is synched so you can pick up right were you left off!
