Multisensorisches Design von Verkaufsumgebungen: Sehen, Hören, Riechen (Science meets Practice)

by Marko Sarstedt Monika Imschloss Susanne Adler

Multisensory Design of Retail Environments: Vision, Sound, and Scent (Science meets Practice)

by Marko Sarstedt Monika Imschloss Susanne Adler

Online retailers have gained massive popularity in recent years, plunging large parts of brick-and-mortar retail into an existential crisis. In order to survive in times of growing online retail, brick-and-mortar retailers must become aware of their unique potential to address non-digitizable consumer needs and transform retail environments into places of experience and discovery. A key building block for achieving this aim lies in the creation of sensory experiences that motivate consumers to enter and linger in stationary retail environments. But how? To answer this question, this volume provides insights into the latest research results from sensory marketing on vision, sound, and scent. The authors describe the sometimes surprising effects of sensory cues on consumer behavior and provide clear recommendations for marketing practice. Readers of this book have access to videos via a dedicated app: simply download the SN More Media app free of charge, scan a link with the play button and immediately play the video on your smartphone or tablet.

Multisensory in Stationary Retail: Principles and Practice of Customer-Centered Store Design

by Gunnar Mau Markus Schweizer Christoph Oriet

This book describes how an optimal store design can contribute to the well-being of the customer and to differentiation from online retail. From an academic and practical perspective, with contributions from renowned academics and companies, it shows how a coherent store design can be created in harmony with the retail brand. The central challenge here is the conscious orchestration of the diverse sensory stimuli. How can the many sources of stimuli be controlled? Which shelf shape goes with which light, colour and sound? Dealing with the variety of stimuli in a store environment can quickly become complex and incongruence can have a decisive negative impact on the well-being of customers. A customer-centric store environment therefore focuses on the well-being of people. Renowned scientists and traders show the state of the science on these issues and give valuable suggestions for the trade. With best practice examples and valuable suggestions for practical implementation

Multisensuale Gestaltung der Ladenatmosphäre zur Profilierung von Store Brands

by Jenny Müller

Multiteam Systems: An Organization Form for Dynamic and Complex Environments (Organization and Management Series)

by Stephen J. Zaccaro Michelle A. Marks Leslie A. DeChurch

This book examines an emerging organizational form called the multi-team system (MTS). This type of aggregation is being increasingly adopted by organizations and agencies that need to respond to complex strategic problems. There has been increasing interest in MTSs over the last decade to the point where there is now a need to (a) describe these organizational forms more fully, (b) build conceptual frames that can guide research, and (c) begin developing tools to improve the study of MTSs. The purpose of this book is to respond to these needs. The book contains a series of chapters that expand prior conceptual frames of MTSs, defining in more detail the compositional and linkage attributes that characterize such units. The book also explores how such systems emerge and develop, as well as the methods for studying MTSs. The intent of the book is to establish and nurture a strong conceptual and methodological foundation that can guide research and practice with MTSs. Because the notion of MTSs cuts across multiple domains, this book will interest scholars in industrial/organizational psychology, organizational science, management and organizational theory, human factors, sociology, organization communications, and public administration.

Multivariate Analysis for Neuroimaging Data

by Atsushi Kawaguchi

This book describes methods for statistical brain imaging data analysis from both the perspective of methodology and from the standpoint of application for software implementation in neuroscience research. These include those both commonly used (traditional established) and state of the art methods. The former is easier to do due to the availability of appropriate software. To understand the methods it is necessary to have some mathematical knowledge which is explained in the book with the help of figures and descriptions of the theory behind the software. In addition, the book includes numerical examples to guide readers on the working of existing popular software. The use of mathematics is reduced and simplified for non-experts using established methods, which also helps in avoiding mistakes in application and interpretation. Finally, the book enables the reader to understand and conceptualize the overall flow of brain imaging data analysis, particularly for statisticians and data-scientists unfamiliar with this area. The state of the art method described in the book has a multivariate approach developed by the authors’ team. Since brain imaging data, generally, has a highly correlated and complex structure with large amounts of data, categorized into big data, the multivariate approach can be used as dimension reduction by following the application of statistical methods. The R package for most of the methods described is provided in the book. Understanding the background theory is helpful in implementing the software for original and creative applications and for an unbiased interpretation of the output. The book also explains new methods in a conceptual manner. These methodologies and packages are commonly applied in life science data analysis. Advanced methods to obtain novel insights are introduced, thereby encouraging the development of new methods and applications for research into medicine as a neuroscience.

Multivariate Modelling of Non-Stationary Economic Time Series

by John Hunter Simon P. Burke Alessandra Canepa

This book examines conventional time series in the context of stationary data prior to a discussion of cointegration, with a focus on multivariate models. The authors provide a detailed and extensive study of impulse responses and forecasting in the stationary and non-stationary context, considering small sample correction, volatility and the impact of different orders of integration. Models with expectations are considered along with alternate methods such as Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA), the Kalman Filter and Structural Time Series, all in relation to cointegration. Using single equations methods to develop topics, and as examples of the notion of cointegration, Burke, Hunter, and Canepa provide direction and guidance to the now vast literature facing students and graduate economists.

Mumbai / Bombay: Majoritarian Neoliberalism, Informality, Resistance, and Wellbeing (Cities and the Urban Imperative)

by Sujata Patel D. Parthasarathy George Jose

Mumbai/Bombay is a quintessential urban expression which represents the questions and puzzles related to Indian urbanity. This book traces the various ways through which majoritarianism and neoliberal capitalist accumulation has reorganised Bombay or Mumbai in India. The book assesses Mumbai’s present trajectories and processes as being embedded in its recent past. It looks at these changes by exploring work and labour; health and education; spatial planning and infrastructural development; politics and identity; and shows how financialisation, land speculation, deregulation and informality has impacted the city’s culture and everyday living. The contributors to this volume analyse the consequences of these changes for women and men across ages, as they live their material and cultural lives; evaluate the role of changing nature of work, urban infrastructure and planning; determine its outcome for public health and education; and take a measure of its manifestation in the field of arts and culture. The volume explores the processes that reorient these changes, the socio-spatial and political implications of these on the inhabitants of the city, and the resistance and response to marginalisation. This interdisciplinary volume will interest students and researchers of economics, sociology, anthropology, political science, public policy and urban studies. It will also be useful to urban practitioners, planners, bureaucrats, activists and general readers.
