Pyramid of One
by Zoe Evans Brigette BarragerThursday, November 25: Evening, my crib Spirit Level: Cold and stuffedOkay, just when I thought things were totally perfect and Bevan and I were going to live happily ever after together (or, like, go to the movies), I remembered the Katie Parker factor!! AND Katie has been giving me the super cold shoulder, and I mean F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G cold!! She must know. As if things aren't weird enough, Mom wants the Grizzlies to go to the state regional competition to cheer on the Titans and see a real competition. I'm psyched to watch all the cheering, especially since the Grizzlies are getting a bit restless without a big game on the horizon. But if Katie knows about me and Bevan, the temp of this super high-pressured weekend is going to get really cold--REALLY fast. And something tells me that this competition is going to have MORE than its fair share of stunts--on AND OFF the mat. Oh brother... Just when things with the Titan cheer trio are finally looking up (or at least straight across), Maddy finds herself in yet another tangled web. Her crush, Bevan--who everyone knows head Titan cheerleader Katie Parker just broke up with--asks Maddy out! Still hoping to one day make the Titan team, Maddy has to choose: Table for one, or pyramid OF one? All is definitely NOT fair in love and cheerleading. Meanwhile, without a "real" game in sight to cheer for, the Grizzlies are starting loose steam and it's up to Maddy, Jacqui, and Coach Carolyn to give them something to CHEER for. When the Titan's big cheerleading competition sectionals brings both teams to one place for one pressure-filled weekend, the stakes rise as cheerleaders start performing stunts on AND off the mat--breaking hearts, spirits, and even ankles!

Qatar
by Lisa MccoyThroughout history tiny Qatar (pronounced "cutter" or "gutter") has at times been overlooked or forgotten. Today, however, this small country, located on a peninsula that juts into the Arabian Gulf, has become an important strategic partner of the United States. In recent years Qatar has gained international stature in part because of its vast reserves of oil and natural gas. Since coming to power in 1995, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has made Qatar one of the more liberal Gulf states. Though the country is by no means a democracy in the Western sense, Qatar appears to be moving slowly in that direction. One day Qatar may provide a successful example of democracy for the Arab world. Discusses the geography, history, economy, government, religion, people, foreign relations, and communities of Qatar.
QB 1: Quantity Pack
by Mike LupicaFrom #1 New York Times bestselling author of TRAVEL TEAM, HEAT, and MILLION-DOLLAR THROW comes a cheer-worthy, family-friendly football novel set amid the Friday Night Lights world of Texas high school football. Jake Cullen is a freshman quarterback playing high school football in the high-pressure land of Friday Night Lights (Texas). He is also the brother of Wyatt Cullen, who quarterbacked his team to the Texas State Championship last season--not to mention the son of former NFL quarterback and local legend, Troy Cullen. To be a Cullen in Texas is to be royalty . . . and a quarterback. All of which leaves 14-year-old Jake in a Texas-sized shadow, a tall order for any boy, especially one who's merely a freshman. While his teammates assume the starting job will be handed to Jake on a silver platter, the truth is that he has to fight for every snap and every ounce of respect. Jake may be a Cullen and he may play quarterback, but he is not his brother or his father. Being a good teammate comes naturally to Jake; being a winner and a celebrity does not. He's just like every other boy--awkward around a pretty girl, in awe of his famous family, and desperate to simultaneously blend in and cast his own shadow. Inspired by the real-life Manning family of quarterbacks (father Archie, Super Bowl-winning sons Peyton and Eli) and set amid the football-crazy culture of Texas immortalized in Friday Night Lights, QB 1 is a coming-of-age story perfect for the fan of MILLION-DOLLAR THROW, HEAT, and of course FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. "This is a wonderful book by a great writer. All football fathers and sons will enjoy it."--Archie Manning
