Sheriff Updown Turns the Bad Guys Good: A Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventure (Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventure #3)
by Jaime AmorThe hugely successful Cosmic Kids YouTube channel helps children discover yoga by joining presenter Jaime on monthly yoga adventures, each one a story featuring a lovable animal character that achieves something amazing. Aimed at 4 to 8-year-olds, the Cosmic Kids yoga books offer children a chance to take the yoga more slowly than is possible in a fast-moving video, to spend more time in their favorite poses, and also to enjoy reading or listening to the story. Each book is themed around a specific area of well being; in the case of Lulu, this is coping with feelings of frustration and anger, and finding and managing our own inner power. In this story we're off to the Wild West to have an adventure with Sheriff Updown, the rabbit who takes on all the bad guys. Luckily, Sheriff Updown finds a secret weapon: a Zappy Happy that turns bad guys into good ones. When we face up to Rex the Tex Alligator, Crooked Coyote, Brainshake Rattlesnake and the other bandits, we find that our inner Zappy Happy can make all sorts of scary situations seem fine after all. It's all about staying calm and thinking positively. The story concludes with a relaxation and some affirmations to reinforce the message of the book. With bright illustrations, the books are designed to mirror the Cosmic Kids look, and to allow children to get to know a range of characters from the Cosmic Kids shows. There's also information at the back to help parents and teachers introduce children to yoga, even if they don't practice yoga themselves.

Shiatsu
by Corinna SommaPeople must have high spiritual development to do this Shiatsu technique, because healing disease is not only by fingertip pressure. You have to have spiritual power to do healing by hand. So wrote the founder of modern Shiatsu, Tamai Tempaku, in his groundbreaking book Shiatsu Ho, published in 1919, and thereby affirmed the spiritual dimension of a highly manual art (Dubitsky, 1992). In my experience, most practitioners of Shiatsu and other forms of manual therapy are attracted to bodywork because it is a ministry of compassion that fosters wholeness, and this is a spiritual matter as much as a physical matter. Nevertheless, though we respond to a spiritual call, most of us invest considerable time, money, and effort in studying and mastering technique, in perfecting the form of the practice, which is what books like this are designed to support. Only much later, and perhaps by grace, we might discover our healing gift, the supernatural side of healing and the substance, heart, or spirit of the practice.

Shift
by Heather WallacePowerful, life-altering information from an enlightened being of the Pleiadian star system, channeled through the author. . . Heather Wallace has been channeling information for more than a decade. To use her word, "translator" is a more accurate term for what she does when she connects with spiritually aware entities from the spirit plane. She only connects and collaborates with beings working toward the greater good with love and integrity; she protects herself from malevolent beings and does not allow them to break through her psychic barriers. For her collaboration on Shift: New Paradigms for a New Earth, she connected with a being called "Holly" from the Pleiadian star system and it is through Holly that she presents transformational information accessible to anyone interested to evolve to a more enlightened existence. In Shift: New Paradigms for a New Earth Holly reveals outmoded programs that do not support self-empowerment or self-love and introduces ways in which the reader can shift these outmoded paradigms, embracing new ideas and concepts that align with our divine being. Holly explains our evolution from a mental-driven culture into a heart-centered species and how our previous patterns of behavior are no longer serving us. She covers the nature of time as not being linear, reincarnation, our nature as multidimensional beings, why we are here, vibrational frequency and other dimensions. As we move into a new age of expanded spiritual awareness, these subjects are becoming part of our accepted knowledge base and reality. Our vibration has shifted, and continues to shift, bringing us into an unprecedented era of expansion. It reasonably follows that new knowledge will now be available to us that is in resonance with our new vibration. Shift: New Paradigms for a New Earth will teach you: About the earth's new vibrational plane and how to operate in this new space How to have healthy, happy relationships--with yourself, your mate and the world around you How to heal conflict at the personal and global levels How to bring your emotional, mental, and spiritual selves into balance The difference between the law of attraction and manifestation, and how to use both to create what you want in your life The nature of the soul and ourselves as multidimensional beings The purpose behind violence and natural disasters Shift: New Paradigms for a New Earth is a practical guide and presents relatable, simple examples and exercises to help the reader fully embrace the information and put it into practical application in their everyday life.

Shiitake: The Healing Mushroom
by Kenneth JonesThe shiitake is one of the most highly prized foods in Oriental cuisine, lending its rich, caramel-like flavor to seasonings, sauces, soups, even carbonated drinks and candies. Yet few aficionados of this gourmet delicacy are aware of its high nutritional value or of its important role in traditional Chinese medicine and in the modern search for botanical remedies. Traditionally classified as a food that activates the blood, shiitake has been used as a folk treatment for colds, measles, and bronchial inflammations. Shiitake: The Healing Mushroom takes the reader on a lively tour of the healing properties of one of the world's most delicious foods. In the past few years, its growing popularity in the West has made shiitake, after the common table mushroom, the most-cultivated mushroom worldwide. Recent studies indicate its usefulness in lowering blood cholesterol levels and preventing heart disease. Research suggests that shiitake is valuable in immunotherapy, bolstering the immune system and increasing the body's ability to ward off cancerous tumors, viral infections, and chronic fatigue syndrome. The N.I.H. is testing shiitake in their AIDS research program.
Shikake: The Japanese Art Of Changing Behavior Through Design
by Naohiro MatsumuraThe Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up meets Nudge in this irresistible design method from Japan. We are living in a time when behavioral change is necessary for our health and survival. Yet we find it exceedingly difficult to transform our own habits, let alone those of other people. Enter Naohiro Matsumura, whose powerful new design method is as astonishingly simple in its logic as it is sophisticated in its psychology. It allows any of us—from UX designers and marketers to concerned citizens and overworked parents—to address challenges in our homes, our public spaces, and our social interactions. As Matsumura shows, a shikake—or “device” in Japanese—is a design that exerts influence on us through subtle nudging, rather than direct command; it encourages a particular behavior without telling its (often unwitting) user the primary purpose of that behavior. For example: • Footprints in a store guide shoppers and keep them socially distant • A basketball hoop placed over a trash can entices children to tidy up their rooms • A symbol of a shrine in a public square encourages respectfulness • A staircase painted to look like piano keys prompts exercise through play Combining traditional Japanese aesthetics with the lessons of behavioral economics, Matsumura reveals how to identify the hidden design cues that already shape our world, and how shikakes can help us confront some of the most pressing challenges of our era, from pandemics to declining civic engagement to climate change and beyond. Mind-bending yet elegant, Shikake presents a tool kit for anyone who wants to create their own mindful designs, for the delight and betterment of us all.

Shine
by Star Jones ReynoldsStar Jones Reynolds had done it all. College on scholarship, law school on loans, and life by faith. She had achieved a prestigious career as a lawyer and prosecutor, provided much-needed calm and insight while reporting the Rodney King and O. J. Simpson trials on television, and landed a spot cohosting one of America's most popular daytime television shows, The View. Then why was she feeling so down? It all began when Star took a close look at herself and her life and realized she wasn't happy with what she saw: obesity precluded her from crossing her legs, she needed an asthma inhaler, she couldn't fasten her own necklace, and, worst of all, she got too tired to shop -- a disaster because Star Jones Reynolds is a seriously committed shopper. Then she realized something else: with all her extraordinary accomplishments, none of it mattered without true love. Thinking long and hard, she finally understood that she hadn't yet met the man of her dreams because she wasn't ready for him. Star decided to make it happen. She began a personal journey to reconstitute her physical look, emotional state, and already strong spirituality. Even if she didn't find love, it would be a win-win situation because she'd emerge from the experience a healthier, happier woman -- one who could truly shine. Unless you live on another planet, you know Star succeeded in her quest and did find true love -- and it wasn't that hard at all. In Shine, she shares it all in her wise, revealing, irreverent, laugh-out-loud style. Shine is divided into three main sections, each exploring core issues of interest to women. Part One guides women toward being their most attractive physical selves using Star's personal secrets on losing weight and finding hair, fashion, and makeup chic (inexpensively). Part Two asks tough questions about emotional preparedness for a relationship and shows you how to think like lawyers, and how to get your financial and emotional houses in order. Part Three delves into a woman's spiritual life -- discover how to talk to God no matter what your religion. Spiking the book are Star's "absolutes" -- truisms that have always worked for her and continue to give her guidance -- quizzes and self-assessment exercises that will help you focus on your particular strengths and weaknesses. Everyone knows Star Jones Reynolds is a success story, a happy, rough-edges-to-emotional-and-financial-riches tale. Until you read this book, you won't know how she got there -- and how you can echo her triumphs and shine.
