The Complete Yoga of Emotional-Sexual Life: The Way Beyond Ego-Based Sexuality
by Avatar Adi SamrajThe core practices of the emotionally and sexually balanced teachings on love, intimacy, and sexual relationships from the Realized Master Avatar Adi Da Samraj • Teaches how to overcome the emotional patterning that hinders healthy sexual relationships • Presents a solitary yogic discipline to restore the bipolar integrity of the individual • Shows how to entirely transcend emotional-sexual patterns In all the domains of human life, we now understand the need for an integration of body, mind, and spirit. But despite this comprehension of the holistic nature of existence, much of the teaching offered on sexuality--even sacred sexuality--concentrates on the physical practice, to the detriment of emotional intimacy. Avatar Adi Da Samraj explains that our emotional-sexual life can only be made right through the process of restoring the bipolar balance of the body, and by transcending the ego, the illusory sense of separate existence. He advocates that sexual practice initially become a solitary yogic discipline--an embracing and reclaiming of one’s own body--to restore the bipolar integrity that is at the core of every human being. Once this bipolar integrity is established, he shows how a sexual practice of true intimacy--free of clinging attachment--is possible. He also teaches that an unconscious, early childhood reaction to the mother and father governs the emotional-sexual life, a reaction that must be understood and transcended. The emotional-sexual practices taught by Avatar Adi Da are centered in the understanding that love breaks the heart and show that learning how to have intimacy without ego-based attachment is where profound practice begins.

The Complex Reality of Pain (Routledge Studies in Contemporary Philosophy)
by Jennifer CornsThis book employs contemporary philosophy, scientific research, and clinical reports to argue that pain, though real, is not an appropriate object of scientific generalisations or an appropriate target for medical intervention. Each pain experience is instead complex and idiosyncratic in a way which undermines scientific utility. In addition to contributing novel arguments and developing a novel position on the nature of pain, the book provides an interdisciplinary overview of dominant models of pain. The author lays the needed groundwork for improved models and targeted treatments at a time when pain science, pain medicine, and philosophy are explicitly searching for both and failing to find them. The Complex Reality of Pain will be of interest to a broad range of researchers and students, including those working in philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, cognitive science, neuroscience, medicine, health, cognitive and behavioural psychology, and pain science.

The Comprehensive Repertory for the New Homeopathic Remedies: A Guide to Strategic Prescribing
by Colin GriffithAfter nearly a quarter of a century's proof and research into new homoeopathic medicines, the dozens of new remedies that have been developed by the meditation circle of Janice Micallef RSHom are now presented as a desktop reference guide for any homoeopath with an interest in expanding the horizons of their art. Colin Griffith, a member of the homeopathic 'proving circle' since its earliest days, has laid out the book in a user-friendly manner to facilitate an easy search for the most appropriate remedy for both familiar and unfamiliar rubrics of symptoms. The accompanying lists of comparable 'old' remedies ensure that practitioners will not be tempted to view the new remedies as exclusively remedial in cases that may seem to call for something unusual. There are explanatory essays on how to use the repertory, on the association of remedies with the seven chakras and the seven major miasms, and a glossary of remedy names in both English and Latin to conform to universal usage. Each new remedy is also given a characteristic essential 'thumb nail' sketch to act as an additional guide. From the Hardcover edition.
The Computer-based Patient Record (Revised Edition)
by Committee on Improving the Patient RecordMost industries have plunged into data automation, but health care organizations have lagged in moving patients' medical records from paper to computers. In its first edition, this book presented a blueprint for introducing the computer-based patient record (CPR). The revised edition adds new information to the original book. One section describes recent developments, including the creation of a computer-based patient record institute. An international chapter highlights what is new in this still-emerging technology. An expert committee explores the potential of machine-readable CPRs to improve diagnostic and care decisions, provide a database for policymaking, and much more, addressing these key questions: Who uses patient records? What technology is available and what further research is necessary to meet users' needs? What should government, medical organizations, and others do to make the transition to CPRs? The volume also explores such issues as privacy and confidentiality, costs, the need for training, legal barriers to CPRs, and other key topics.
The Comte de St. Germain
by Isabel Cooper-OakleyDURING the last quarter of every hundred years an attempt is made by those Masters, of whom I have spoken, to help on the spiritual progress of Humanity. Towards the close of each century you will invariably find that an outpouring or upheaval of spirituality--or call it mysticism if you prefer--has taken place. Some one or more persons have appeared in the world as their agents, and a greater or less amount of occult knowledge or teaching has been given out.
The Conative Connection: Uncovering the Link Between Who You Are and How You Perform
by Kathy KolbeKolbe identifies four modes of action, which each individual has in varying amounts. You use each mode at least some of the time, but you probably use one or more primarily and avoid another. Are you predominantly a Fact Finder, careful to research a problem before responding? Or are you a Follow Thru, for whom systems are the answer? Perhaps you're a Quick Start, spontaneous and innovative in your solutions. Or an Implementor, relishing demonstration and tangible results. You don't have to change the way you are to improve your performance. Kolbe shows you how to predict what you and other people will and won't do.
The Concept of Mind: 60th Anniversary Edition
by Gilbert RyleFirst published in 1949, Gilbert Ryle’s The Concept of Mind is one of the classics of twentieth-century philosophy. Described by Ryle as a ‘sustained piece of analytical hatchet-work’ on Cartesian dualism, The Concept of Mind is a radical and controversial attempt to jettison once and for all what Ryle called ‘the ghost in the machine’: Descartes’ argument that mind and body are two separate entities. This sixtieth anniversary edition includes a substantial commentary by Julia Tanney and is essential reading for new readers interested not only in the history of analytic philosophy but in its power to challenge major currents in philosophy of mind and language today.
The Conceptual Representation of Consciousness
by Thomas NatsoulasConsciousness is familiar to us first hand, yet difficult to understand. This book concerns six basic concepts of consciousness exercised in ordinary English. The first is the interpersonal meaning and requires at least two people involved in relation to one another. The second is a personal meaning, having to do with one's own perspective on the kind of person one is and the life one is leading. The third meaning has reference simply to one's being occurrently aware of something or as though of something. The fourth narrows the preceding sense to one's having direct occurrent awareness of happenings in one's own experiential stream. The fifth is the unitive meaning of consciousness and has reference to those portions of one's stream that one self-appropriates to make up one's conscious being. The last is the general-state meaning and picks out the general operating mode in which we most often function.
