The Indexical Point of View: On Cognitive Significance and Cognitive Dynamics (Routledge Studies in Contemporary Philosophy)
by Vojislav BozickovicThis book argues that there is a common cognitive mechanism underlying all indexical thoughts, in spite of their seeming diversity. Indexical thoughts are mental representations, such as beliefs and desires. They represent items from a thinker's point of view or her cognitive perspective. We typically express them by means of sentences containing linguistic expressions such as 'this (F)' or 'that (F)', adverbs like 'here', 'now', and 'today', and the personal pronoun ‘I’. While generally agreeing that representing the world from a thinker's cognitive perspective is a key feature of indexical thoughts, philosophers disagree as to whether a thinker's cognitive perspective can be captured and rationalized by semantic content and, if so, what kind of content this is. This book surveys competing views and then advances its own positive account. Ultimately, it argues that a thinker's cognitive perspective - or her indexical point of view - is to be explained in terms of the content that is believed and asserted as the only kind of content that there is which thereby serves as the bearer of cognitive significance. The Indexical Point of View will be of interest to philosophers of mind and language, linguists, and cognitive scientists.

Time Shifts: Experiences of Slipping into the Past and Future
by Von Braschler• Shares detailed accounts from people who have experienced time slips, including the author&’s own experiences, as well as the practices of shamans, yoga masters, and Samadhi mystics who use trance-like meditative states to travel outside normal space and time • Offers step-by-step exercises to prepare you to experience time shifts, to help set them up, and to enhance the experience when you have slipped through time • Examines criticisms of and scientific support for this phenomenon, debunking claims that time slips are delusions or remembrances of past lives and showing that they may be related to energy vortices, black holes, or astral travel Every now and then somebody reports stepping out of normal time and space. It doesn&’t seem to matter where they live or their background--the veil of ordinary reality drops and they suddenly slip into the past or future, usually seamlessly and unknowingly, experiencing a temporary and accidental form of time travel. Sharing detailed accounts from people who have experienced time slips and shifts between realities, including his own experiences, Von Braschler examines what their stories have in common to establish the pattern behind how these sudden slips in time occur. He examines criticisms of and scientific support for this phenomenon, debunking claims that time slips are delusions, implanted memories, or remembrances of past lives and showing that they may be related to energy vortices, tears in the fabric of our reality, black holes, astral travel, or light body movements. Studying reliable models from both the West and the East, he compares these excursions with shamanic journeying and the practices of yoga masters and Samadhi mystics, who use trance-like meditative states to travel outside normal space and time. Exploring the work of Einstein and other physicists, the author also examines the different speed with which time passes in ordinary reality and during time shifts--people will find that only a few minutes has elapsed for a time-shift experience that appeared to take hours. Offering step-by-step exercises to prepare you to experience time shifts, to help set them up, and to enhance the experience when you have slipped through time, the author provides a road map allowing anyone to explore shifts in time and space and expand their awareness beyond ordinary reality.
Breathe: 14 Days to Oxygenating, Recharging and Fuelling Your Body and Brain
by Vranich BelisaThere is an aspect of health that we have all been taking for granted, but which is of vital importance to our well-being: the breath. The combination of the explosion of technology, longer hours spent seated at a desk or in a car, and high levels of daily stress have had a tremendous negative impact on the way we breathe. This in turn has created or even exacerbated medical problems such as high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome and insomnia. The first book of its kind, Breathe is a fascinating and straightforward exploration of how our breath affects our health, and how we can use it to solve health issues from fatigue and anxiety to weight gain and poor digestion. In this book, clinical psychologist Belisa Vranich asks you to dedicate ten minutes a day for fourteen days to your breath. The result: more energy, less pain, lower cortisol (and control of belly fat), less GI problems and a better immune system. By combining anatomy and fitness with psychology and mindfulness, Belisa gives readers a way of healing from the inside out: by addressing ailments at the cellular level, with oxygen.

The Psychic Battlefield: A History of the Military-Occult Complex
by W. Adam MandelbaumA former intelligence professional sheds new light on the obscure intersection of the military and the paranormal--the Military-Occult Complex--and reveals the incredible story of psychic abilities turned into a weapon of war by the world's soldiers and spies. In the annals of military and espionage history there have been many strange tales to be told, but none can match the saga of psychic espionage: the history of the Military-Occult Complex. With the flavor of fiction, but the foundation of fact, The Psychic Battlefield is the complete history of the use of man's extrasensory powers in search of the information needed to win wars--hot and cold. The Psychic Battlefield spans the five thousand-year history of espionage, from the attempted overthrow of the Pharaoh Rameses by magic to the CIA use of military-trained psychics during the Cold War. It is a story as true as it is incredible. This book reveals the story of the sacred Templar skull; the Angelic communications of John Dee, intelligence agent of Queen Elizabeth I; the psychic stranglehold of Rasputin on the Romanovs; and the occult endeavors of the Nazis and the Soviets. The Psychic Battlefield contains the names and rites of the old demons of war, contacted by military strategists in search of supernatural support. It explains and discusses different methods of divination used by armies throughout history, and reveals the various ways of making a soldier into a superman. The cast of characters includes such noteworthy names as sorcerer-poet Aleister Crowley, author Ian Fleming, spoon-bending General Stubblebine, and Psychic Warrior David Morehouse. In addition, the book features an exclusive interview with top psychic spy Joseph McMoneagle. Most remarkable of all is Mandelbaum's fascinating exposé of the paranormal research and remote viewing experiments conducted by the CIA, as well as the real effectiveness of the government's Stargate program.Attorney, psychic, former intelligence professional and dark-side investigative reporter W. Adam Mandelbaum clearly demonstrates that the final frontier of future wars and spies is the mind.

U Turn to Our Father: A Change of Heart
by W. L. SorrellAnxiety – a toxic fire which burns in the belly and fills the head with billowing plumes of stress. Never before has dread smeared itself across the minds of so many, and never before have so many yearned to be set free from its stench. U Turn to our Father draws upon the inerrancy of Scripture to show us all that to be constantly striving for a trouble-free mind through the blood, sweat, and tears of our own efforts, is in truth an act of futility. Our Father’s plan is not for us to struggle in vain to change our inner lives, but for both our inner and outer lives to be changed through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the supernatural, sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. The primary place this change takes effect is within the heart – not the physical heart, but the spiritual heart. For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 Bathed by the Holy Spirit, it is the spiritual heart which upholds the soul – nourishing, nurturing, sustaining, and supporting all aspects of our wellbeing. U Turn to our Father – a change of heart. Not just a possibility, but a guaranteed promise from the Giver of Life. Twelve short chapters await your eyes and ears. Only by reading them will you understand why you were meant to.
