From Birth To Rebirth: Gnostic Healing For The 21st Century

by Charles V. Tramont

From Birth to Rebirth is the heart-warming true story of a dedicated obstetrician whose interest in hypnosis develops into a passion for using past-life regression as an exciting healing modality. After making his way through the rigors of medical training and the trenches of daily practice, Dr. Tramont now finds himself evolving into a pragmatic Gnostic. For thousands of years, Gnostics have believed that liberation comes from knowledge of who you are, why you are here, and where you came from. Far from being an ancient, obscure, and little-understood theology, Gnosticism is emerging today as newly valid, mainstream, and clearly relevant. In From Birth to Rebirth you will find yourself sharing Dr. Tramont's excitement as his curiosity regarding past lives escalates into full-blown research that takes him down the extraordinary pathway of spiritual enlightenment. His growing interest in therapeutic hypnosis guides him through the complex domain of the mind as he begins to discover other dimensions and the significance of previous lives to present health. To Dr. Tramont's amazement, guiding individuals through therapeutic regressions of their previous lives enables them to successfully heal themselves of many emotional and physical problems. His discovery of the extreme effectiveness of this rather miraculous method of healing has profoundly affected the way he views medicine, and, for that matter, even the nature of reality itself. In From Birth to Rebirth you will accompany Dr. Tramont on a wild ride as he encounters surprises at every turn and learns to listen to his intuition a "" the very voice of his soul. From the shackles of conventional medicine springs a safe, inexpensive, non-invasive, and extremely successful alternative healing method, a modality that is essential for the 21st Century.

From Patmos To The Barrio: Subverting Imperial Myths

by David A. Sanchez

Sanchez's subject is the power of imperial myths - and the subversive power unleashed when resistance movements take over those myths for their own purposes. Moving from John of Patmos's inversion of Roman imperial mythology in Revelation 12 to the indigenous appropriation of Spanish symbolism and mythology, drawn from Revelation 12, in 17th-century Mexico, Sanchez then explores the continuing power of the Virgin of Guadalupe to inspire movements for a better society in our own day.

Gaia and Climate Change: A Theology of Gift Events

by Anne Primavesi

James Lovelock’s Gaia theory revolutionized the understanding of our place and role in the global environment. It is now accepted that our activities over the past two hundred years have contributed to and accelerated the extreme weather events associated with climate change. The fact that those activities materialized, for the most part, from within Western Christian communities makes it imperative to assess and to change their theological climate: one characterized by routine use of violent, imperialist images of God. The basis for change explored here is that of gift events, particularly as evidenced in Jesus’s life and sayings. Its legacy of love of enemies and forgiveness offers a basis for nonviolent theological and practical approaches to our situatedness within the community of life. These are also Gaian responses, as they include foregoing a perception of ourselves as belonging to an elect group given power by God over earth’s life-support systems and over all those dependent on them, whether human or more-than-human. The degree to which we change this self-perception will determine how we affect, for good or ill, not only the givenness of the climate in future but the givenness of all future life on earth.

Gender and Christianity in Medieval Europe

by Felice Lifshitz Lisa M. Bitel

In Gender and Christianity in Medieval Europe, six historians explore how medieval people professed Christianity, how they performed gender, and how the two coincided. Many of the daily religious decisions people made were influenced by gender roles, the authors contend. Women's pious donations, for instance, were limited by laws of inheritance and marriage customs; male clerics' behavior depended upon their understanding of masculinity as much as on the demands of liturgy. The job of religious practitioner, whether as a nun, monk, priest, bishop, or some less formal participant, involved not only professing a set of religious ideals but also professing gender in both ideal and practical terms. The authors also argue that medieval Europeans chose how to be women or men (or some complex combination of the two), just as they decided whether and how to be religious. In this sense, religious institutions freed men and women from some of the gendered limits otherwise imposed by society.Whereas previous scholarship has tended to focus exclusively either on masculinity or on aristocratic women, the authors define their topic to study gender in a fuller and more richly nuanced fashion. Likewise, their essays strive for a generous definition of religious history, which has too often been a history of its most visible participants and dominant discourses. In stepping back from received assumptions about religion, gender, and history and by considering what the terms "woman," "man," and "religious" truly mean for historians, the book ultimately enhances our understanding of the gendered implications of every pious thought and ritual gesture of medieval Christians.Contributors:Dyan Elliott is John Evans Professor of History at Northwestern University. Gender and Narrative in the Mahabharata (Routledge Hindu Studies Series)

by Simon Brodbeck Brian Black

The Sanskrit Mahabharata is one of the most important texts to emerge from the Indian cultural tradition. At almost 75,000 verses it is the longest poem in the world, and throughout Indian history it has been hugely influential in shaping gender and social norms. In the context of ancient India, it is the definitive cultural narrative in the construction of masculine, feminine and alternative gender roles. This book brings together many of the most respected scholars in the field of Mahabharata studies, as well as some of its most promising young scholars. By focusing specifically on gender constructions, some of the most innovative aspects of the Mahabharata are highlighted. Whilst taking account of feminist scholarship, the contributors see the Mahabharata as providing an opportunity to frame discussion of gender in literature not just in terms of the socio-historical roles of men and women. Instead they analyze the text in terms of the wider poetic and philosophical possibilities thrown up by the semiotics of gendering. Consequently, the book bridges a gap in text-critical methodology between the traditional philological approach and more recent trends in gender and literary theory. Gender and Narrative in the Mahabharata will be appreciated by readers interested in South Asian studies, Hinduism, religious studies and gender studies.

La Generacian de La Undacima Hora

by Daniel Calveti

The Eleventh Hour Generation is our second book. It is filled with teaching, encouragement and help for those who wish to richly grow in their Christian life. I have described a secret for those who have developed the ability to wait on God. Part of this book's content has been shared with those in the countries I have visited and they have been blessed by what they heard. The content is designed to be used with all types of people. Every chapter ends with one of the songs (in written form) from the album "In Peace". This encourages those who are reading to purchase the album so that they can hear the songs which have given them so much strength through reading the lyrics. The art in the book is very similar to the CD "In Peace" so that people recognize that they are sharing the same message. They see that it is the same Daniel - whether they are listening to his music or reading his words. This book will be available for purchase on April 26, 2008. It is being published by Editorial Vida. I have some ideas about how to promote the book that I would like to share with you.
