Assistive Technology in the Classroom: Enhancing the School Experiences of Students with Disabilities (Third Edition)
by Amy G. Dell Deborah A. Newton Jerry G. PetroffWith an emphasis on the integration of assistive technology into the curriculum, this text focuses on how assistive technology can be used in schools to enhance the teaching and learning of students with disabilities. This link between technology and teaching and learning drives the book's organization as well as its content. It is organized by school-related tasks that students must perform on a daily basis to be successful -- reading, writing, practicing academic skills, and communicating with their teachers and peers – and presents descriptions of technology-based solutions to the obstacles students with disabilities face in completing these tasks. Since being able to access computers is one major barrier, the text features a section on making computers accessible to students with a wide range of disabilities. A companion web site offers up-to-date information on product names, vendors, web site addresses, and other time-sensitive material.

Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes, Book 2: Ordinary Items, Extraordinary Solutions
by Therese WillkommAssistive technology "MacGyver" Therese Willkomm, Ph.D., returns with her second book of five-minute, low-cost approaches for taking ordinary items and turning them into extraordinary solutions for individuals with disabilities. Picking up where the first book left off, AT Solutions in Minutes II demonstrates creative DIY problem solving without the need for power tools or electricity, empowering everyone to be spontaneous and create solutions to everyday challenges using everyday materials. T Every solution can be made using simple and readily-available tools like a utility knife, pliers, scissors, a wire stripper, and a mini blowtorch, among others. by Therese WillkommThis book is about the joy of creating and making thousands of different assistive technology solutions to maximize independence at home, workplace, school, and communities for individuals who experience various limitations. It is the most comprehensive Assistive Technology (AT) Makers book I’ve ever written. I filled it with over 1500 images including over 500 QR codes for instant access to short YouTube videos and resources showing how to make the various AT devices. The first chapter focuses on tools, materials, and techniques for the rapid fabrication of assistive technology solutions using low-cost/no-cost materials; the last chapter provides QR Code access to the tools, materials and resources described throughout the book. The chapters in between focus on the solutions and devices or modifications for smartphones, iPads; mobility impairments; self-care; eating and drinking; reading and writing; reaching and holding; communicating; solutions for blind and low vision; and assistive technology ideas for leisure and play.
Assize of Arms: The Disarmament of Germany and Her Rearmament (1919-1939)
by J. H. MorganBritish lawyer and Brigadier-General John Hartman Morgan served as Deputy Adjutant-General in Berlin from 1919-1923 at the Inter-Allied Military Commission of Control—a term used in a series of peace treaties concluded after World War I (1914-1918) between different countries. Each of these treaties was concluded between the Principal Allied and Associated Powers (consisting of the United States of America, the British Empire, France, Italy and Japan) on the one hand, and one of the Central Powers like Germany, Turkey or Bulgaria. One of the terms of such treaties required conversion of all of the Central Powers’ military and armaments related production and related facilities into purely commercial use. The decision and the modus operandi to ensure this rested with a Military Inter-Allied Commission of Control. The Military Inter-Allied Commission of Control was also entrusted with a number of other responsibilities, including (a) setting the number of customs officials, local urban and rural police, forest guards and other officials under the control of the Government of the central power concerned; and (b) receiving information relating to the location of the stocks and depots of arms, munitions and war material and their operations. It was during this period of 1919-1923 that Brig.-Gen. Morgan witnessed German attempts to build up their army contravening the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, and he published his findings in October 1924 in the Quarterly Review, titled “The Disarmament of Germany and After.” However, it would not be until after World War II that he would decide to elaborate on this theme—the result is the present volume, Assize of Arms: The Disarmament of Germany and Her Rearmament (1919-1939).First published in 1945, it was intended to be published in two volumes; however, owing to Brig.-Gen. Morgan’s passing in 1955, it remained as a single volume.A valuable addition to any World Wars library.
