Sunthankarप्रसिद्ध स्पॅनिश तत्वज्ञ ओ. वाय. गॅसेट यांच्या Revolt of the Masses या पुस्तकाचे केलेले हे भाषांतर आहे. गॅसेट हा विसाव्या शतकातील स्पेनचा मौलिक विचारवंत असून तो फ्रँकोच्या पूर्वकाळातील स्पेनच्या बौद्धिक क्षेत्रातील एक धुरीण होता. स्पेनच्या यादवी युद्धाच्या काळात त्याला स्पेन सोडून वनवासात जावे लागले. १९३० साली प्रसिद्ध झालेले प्रस्तुत पुस्तक हे युरोपीय वाङ्‍मयातील महत्वपूर्ण पुस्तक समजले जाते. गॅसेटची लिहिण्याची शैली विशिष्ट असून ती क्लिष्ट असली तरी अर्थगर्भ आहे. विवेचन करण्याची त्याची एक विशिष्ट एक विशिष्ट मर्मग्राही धर्ती असून कोणत्याही घटनेकडे तो व्यापक दृष्टीकोणातून पहातो. या पुस्तकात आधुनिक काळात युरोपातच नव्हे तर साऱ्या जगभर जनसमुदायांचे जे उत्थान झाले आहे आणि त्यातून जी झुंडशाही निर्माण झाली आहे तिची मीमांसा आणि विश्लेषण गॅसेटने विविध अंगांनी केले आहे. झुंडशाहीची त्याने केलेली मीमांसा सध्याच्या भारताच्या परिस्थितीला यथार्थाने लागू पडते. मधुनमधून आपल्याकडे जे झुंडीच्या उठावाचे प्रकार घडत आहेत त्यांचा उलगडा व्हायला हे पुस्तक उपयुक्त ठरेल यात शंका नाही. मात्र हे पुस्तक वाचताना १९३० सालामधले जागतिक संदर्भ लक्षात घेणे अवश्य आहे.

by Abhishek Dalaviही कादंबरी लेखकाकडून लिहली गेलेली पहिली प्रेमकथा आहे. आपल्या देशाच्या इतिहासात कित्येक प्रेमकथा होऊन गेल्या आहेत. काहींनी इतिहास बनवला तर काही इतिहासात हरवून गेल्या. आजही प्रेम करण्याचा हक्क प्रत्येकाला आहे पण आपल्या मर्जीने लग्न करायचा अजिबात नाही. आजही कित्येक प्रेमकथा पूर्ण होतात पण काही कायमच्या अपूर्ण राहतात. जास्तीच जास्त प्रेमकथा अपूर्ण राहतात त्या मुला आणि मुलीकडील घरच्यांच्या नकारामुळे. या घरच्या मंडळींची नकार देण्याची कारणसुद्धा अगदी अफलातून असतात बरं. काही कुटुंबाना मुलगा देखणा हवा तर काहींना मुलगी कमावणारी हवी, काहींना मुलगी आपल्या जातीतली हवी तर काहींना मुलगा दुसऱ्या कुळातला हवा, काही सुनेकडे हुंडा मागतात तर काही जावयाला घरजावई बनवण्याचा हट्ट करतात. काहीवेळा मूलाकडच्यांचा होकार असतो तर मुलींकडच्यांचा नकार असतो. काही वेळा मुलीकडच्यांचा होकार असतो तर मूलाकडच्यांचा नकार असतो आणि जर दोघांकडूनही होकार असेल तर तो नकारात बदलायला कुंडलीचा दोष पुरेसा असतो. लेखकाच्या मते कोणावर जीवापाड प्रेम केल्यानंतर फक्त घरच्यांच्या हट्टापोटी त्यासोबत नात तोडून टाकणं, त्या पासून कायमच दूर निघून जाण, त्याला विसरून जाण या पेक्षा मोठं दुःख या जगात असूच शकत नाही. लेखकाची ही कथाही अशाच दोन पात्रांशी निगडित आहे. ज्यांची कुटुंब, शहर, रस्ते एकमेकांपासून फार दूर आहेत. पण त्याचं प्रेम, आकांशा आणि नशीब त्यांना त्यांचं आयुष्य एकत्र जगण्यासाठी मदत करत. आता त्यांचं आयुष्य म्हणजे नियतीचा मेळ आहे, नशिबाचा खेळ आहे मी प्रेमाचे फळ हे ही कादंबरी वाचून तुम्हीच ठरवा.
