Encyclopedic Psychic Dictionary
by June G Bletzer Ph DStandard dictionaries and grammar books do not offer adequate language when it comes to describing invisible mind impressions, internal body sensations, and altered states of consciousness. Newly awakened interest in psychics, mystics, shamans, mediums, their philosophy of life and their experiences within invisible dimensions has extended everywhere. Organizations, seminars, weekend workshops, classes, and therapies in para¬psychology and humanistic psychology spring up over night. Medical doctors and researchers in holistic health are assembling a startling body of evidence that intimately connects parapsychological theories with both physical and mental well-being. One may now "openly" speak about one's new attitudes, changes in beliefs, successful alternative healings, meditative and psychic experiences, and one's personal quest of a more qualitative lifestyle, without "under the breath" ridicule and harrassment. This is a global shift in consciousness occurring in all levels of awareness. Legions of individuals and other living organisms are beginning to sense the surge of a consciousness shift within themselves, from the ant and the tree, to the layman and government official. Some name this shift in consciousness the "age of transformation." Whatever one names it, it is here! Changes....change....changed and semantic confusion! People are groping for words to express new dimensional concepts, sensations, and experiences with third-dimensional language. Instructors, authors, psychics, and laymen in this field are coining new words and giving standard words new meanings in trying to explain the variety of experiences of other levels of consciousness and new inner levels of awareness. Mankind has not yet evolved a language or a communication system that can adequately explain these new experiences, sensations, and concepts. This is quite normal in a pioneer field"but these descriptive terms are multiplying faster than research and study can evolve. The written media system is flooded with newly coined words. The aim of this volume is to make the groping for words easier when describing noncustomary experiences and theories with the customary language. Any situational shift requires a shift in language variety. This book contains a concise grouping of the present day shift in language variety and a comparison of this new language variety to words and phrases used in the past in similar philosophies, activities, and inner-dimensional experiences. To accomplish this I have recorded words and phrases from 2000 B.C., the I Ching, to interviews of new-age workers such as seen on the "Phil Donahue Show." Terms used in the mystical and parapsychological field over the years are defined, described, annotated, or theorized. This literary reference volume is a twofold book in which a textbook interweaves with a dictionary. The "same wordage" synchronizes a dictionary, a textbook, and a psychic skill development course. This means no unnecessary reading of valueless words. The material is concise and to the point. Every word is important! You could say, this volume is a shift in a literary style of writing to accommodate the new global shift in consciousness. It is a tool for an accelerated style of learning! As a teacher in this field for over four decades, Dr. Bletzer found that students drawn to the study of parapsychology were people of all ages and all walks of life. She observed this human potential movement and consciousness shift becoming "alive" among her students with an accelerated speed in the later years of her life. From the sixteen hundred students she taught to develop psychically, the amount of time to acquire good psychic skills lessened by half during the last few years. She was finding that the public demand for information relating to parapsychology was coming faster than anyone could teach it. She found a strong desire to understand the multitude of new terms and new meanings for standard words used to d
Meditations for Awakening
by Larry MoenMeditations for Awakening is a collection of guided imageries to help individuals awaken to higher consciousness, and tap talents hidden within. By opening the inner frontier one will also utilize the power of visualization to improve physical and emotional health. This book explores the Light and Dark side of the personality allowing acknowledgment and acceptance equally. This enables the sightful one to exist wholly in Divine Energy without encumbrances of the past. It is not easy, but anything worth while seldom is. Like brushing teeth, the more it is done the less thought is involved. The Light category which contains God, Love and Truth is the basis for feeling. It&’s Dark duality contains the opposite which reflects Satan, Hate and Deceit and is the basis for emotion. Without motion matter does not exist. Motion or emotion is a vital ingredient to obtain its link with feeling. The two constantly move within themselves and are the expression of Divine Energy desiring to experience Itself.

Brain States
by Tom Kenyon MAFor the last year and a half, I have worked on this manuscript at a feverish pace. I would write on weekends, late at night, and sometimes sandwiched between clients. I wrote parts at 30,000 feet on cross-country plane flights. My efforts were driven by a recognition that wherever I taught there was a general misunderstanding about altered states of awareness, and that some of these errors were actually hindering people in their personal growth and, in some cases, posing serious dangers. This book is a humble attempt to correct some of this misinformation and to give readers practical tools that they can use to access the mysterious, beautiful, and incredible treasures of their own inner worlds. We are at a significant period in human history. The rate of discovery in the sciences outpaces our ability to keep up with the amount of information generated. It is very telling that over the short course of eighteen months it took to write this book, there were two significant discoveries in the brain sciences that necessitated my editing portions of the manuscript. At no time in recorded history have we acquired so much knowledge in so short a time.Knowledge is power. But knowledge carries with it a shadow side. For without wisdom to use that knowledge in life affirming ways, we may very well destroy ourselves. The ancient Chinese ideogram for transformation consists of two words — danger and opportunity. All transformations involve change whether it be the transformation of biochemistry into mind or the transformation of a society. In the ever-growing complex world in which we live, we must transcend our old ways of viewing and doing things. We must discover new ways to learn and to work. This is as true on an economic level as it is on a personal one. Those societies that educate themselves to be the most creative and motivated may well be those which flourish in the coming century. And on a personal level, access to our greater potential gifts us with new levels of fulfillment and success. It is my experience that altered states of awareness can assist us to reach beyond our current views of ourselves, and to discover a rich and powerful inner world. The insights, creativity, and sensitivity born from our own inner exploration can help us to wrestle free opportunities for greater life and growth. This is the value I see in learning how to access one&’s deeper consciousness. And that is why I wrote this book.Although we may never meet, and although I can reach out to you only with words, I trust and believe in your greatness. For no matter where we are in our attainments, we can always go further. I hope the following pages entertain, educate, and enlighten you. May they persuade you to take the Great Journey.
Eye Of The Lotus

Meditations for Transformation
by Larry MoenAt some point, we all seek to &“transform&” our lives. It may be a spiritual or physical transformation, the desire for a new career, or a change in relationship. Whatever the challenge of your transformation, this collection of guided meditations offers you many paths to facilitate that change, improve the quality of your life, move through your daily existence, and tap into your higher self. The higher self consists of an inner core of pure beauty which is a descendant of Divine Energy. This beauty exists deep within and can be perceived as a hollow cylinder of vibration and light. The desire to see causes the reflection, and at that point loving light penetrates the perception of fearful darkness and transformation occurs, by turning inside out, or reversing.Creative imagery is a tool that can change the inner knowledge and perceptions by allowing you to see the outside world from within first. Transformation occurs during the changing of the guard, or reality, from Nothing to Something or Something to Nothing.Meditations for Transformation provides wonderful alternative realities from a cross-section of professionals including, physicians, psychologists, healers, teachers, and authors who have found ways to help themselves, and the people they love, attain inner change and growth.I was first introduced to guided imagery at a workshop called &“Healing Your Inner Child&” taught by Margot Escott. My journey into healing and opening up to the love that is available to all of us inspired me to pursue many paths of personal growth, such as self-hypnosis, Tai-Chi, yoga, visualization, chanting and other explorations. While experiencing these avenues, I found I was growing into a more calm, serene person. Also, many athletes achieve peak performance in their particular sports through practicing meditative visualization. Professional golfers and tennis players are among those who use these techniques to improve their games. Visualizing that you can successfully manage a situation helps you confront and master that situation. Visualize yourself already accomplishing a goal, and your mind and body assume you have. Certain thoughts produce related emotions. If you think sad thoughts, you experience unhappiness. If you think fearful thoughts, you experience anxiety. If you think joyful thoughts, you experience happiness. For example, think about your kitchen; close your eyes and imagine what the room looks like. Next, see if you can remember all the colors in your kitchen. Now imagine taking a piece of lemon, slicing it, putting it into your mouth, and taking a bite. Did you start to salivate? This is an example of intended thought into imagery. You now see that you do have the ability to change your reality. When you enter this new reality family, you may discover your thoughts no longer control you, but that you are able to control your thoughts. The intent comes from center. Just as a potter molds his clay, you are capable of transforming yourself in any manner you choose. You can change your programming. You can develop greater self-awareness and self-love and realize your full potential as a Spiritual Light Being having a human experience. It is my hope that you will become the person you were truly meant to be. May you obtain inner peace, love, serenity, and happiness for the good you accomplish by guiding yourself and others. Good luck and happy images!

Film Museum Practice and Film Historiography: The Case of the Nederlands Filmmuseum (1946-2000) (Framing Film)
by Bregt LamerisRich in detail, this is a study of the interrelationships between film historical discourse and archival practices. Exploring the history of several important collections from the EYE Film Museum in Amsterdam, Bregt Lameris shows how archival films and collections always carry the historical traces of selection policies, restoration philosophies, and exhibition strategies. The result is a compelling argument that film archives can never be viewed simply as innocent or neutral sources of film history.
Gender and Position-Taking in Henrician Verse: Tradition, Translation, and Transcription
by Rebecca Quoss-MooreTradition, translation, and transcription in Henrician verse functioned together in systems of communally created, coded position-taking. Understanding this system as an extensive network of production and reception in which women took on many roles allows for new readings of Henrician verse that emphasize the interpretive range available to contemporary reading and writing communities. This restoration demasculinizes our approach to Henrician verse not only through a more equitable consideration of gender’s functions in that social world, but also in de-emphasizing individualized self-fashioning or authorial intent in favor of an engagement with communal production and shared sociopolitical engagement. The creation in this system is not of a code, but of systems for coding and recognizing position-taking. These communal systems offer a site for the intersection of reader and writer, of transcriber and composer, and of King and courtier in a space that questions, creates, and troubles power in the Henrician court.

Disaster Cinema in Historical Perspective: Mediations of the Sublime (Film Culture in Transition)
by Nikita MathiasHow do we experience disaster films in cinema? And where does disaster cinema come from? The two questions are more closely related than one might initially think. For the framework of the cinematic experience of natural disasters has its roots in the mid-eighteenth century when the aesthetic category of the sublime was re-established as the primary mode for appreciating nature's violent forces. In this book, the sublime is understood as a complex and culturally specific meeting point between philosophical thought, artistic creation, social and technical development, and popular imagination. On the one hand, the sublime provides a receptive model to uncover how cinematic disaster depictions affect our senses, bodies and minds. On the other hand, this experiential framework of disaster cinema is only one of the most recent agents within the historical trajectory of sublime disasters, which is traced in this book among a broad range of media: from landscape and history painting to a variety of pictorial devices like Eidophusikon, Panorama, Diorama, and, finally, cinema.
European Coasts of Bohemia: Negotiating the Danube-Oder-Elbe Canal in a Troubled Twentieth Century (Technology and European History Series)
by Jirí JanácThe Danube–Oder–Elbe Canal attracted a great deal of attention throughout the twentieth century. Its promoters, The Danube–Oder–Elbe Canal, attracted a great deal of attention throughout the twentieth century and defined it as a tool for integrating a divided Europe. Although the canal was situated almost exclusively on Czech territory, it promised to create an integrated waterway system across the Continent that would link Black Sea ports to Atlantic markets. In return, the landlocked Czechoslovakian state would have its own connections to the sea. Today, the canal is an important building block of the European Agreement on Main Inland Waterways. This book provides a fascinating story of the experts who confronted and contributed to different and often conflicting geopolitical visions of Europe. The canal was never completed, yet what is more remarkable is the fact that the canal remained on various agendas and attracted vast resources throughout the twentieth century.

Data Visualization in Society
by Helen Kennedy Martin EngebretsenToday we are witnessing an increased use of data visualization in society. Across domains such as work, education and the news, various forms of graphs, charts and maps are used to explain, convince and tell stories. In an era in which more and more data are produced and circulated digitally, and digital tools make visualization production increasingly accessible, it is important to study the conditions under which such visual texts are generated, disseminated and thought to be of societal benefit. This book is a contribution to the multi-disciplined and multi-faceted conversation concerning the forms, uses and roles of data visualization in society. Do data visualizations do 'good' or 'bad'? Do they promote understanding and engagement, or do they do ideological work, privileging certain views of the world over others? The contributions in the book engage with these core questions from a range of disciplinary perspectives.
Authorizing Early Modern European Women: From Biography to Biofiction (Gendering the Late Medieval and Early Modern World)
by Naomi J. Miller James Fitzmaurice Sara Jayne SteenThe essays in this volume analyze strategies adopted by contemporary novelists, playwrights, screenwriters, and biographers interested in bringing the stories of early modern women to modern audiences. It also pays attention to the historical women creators themselves, who, be they saints or midwives, visual artists or poets and playwrights, stand out for their roles as active practitioners of their own arts and for their accomplishments as creators. Whether they delivered infants or governed as monarchs, or produced embroideries, letters, paintings or poems, their visions, the authors argue, have endured across the centuries. As the title of the volume suggests, the essays gathered here participate in a wider conversation about the relation between biography, historical fiction, and the growing field of biofiction (that is, contemporary fictionalizations of historical figures), and explore the complicated interconnections between celebrating early modern women and perpetuating popular stereotypes about them.
