This is followed by an overview of psychodrama practice, including session structure, core techniques, and a positive psychodrama intervention program. Five research designs for outcome studies are presented, along with key issues such as bias assessment, treatment fidelity, treatment differentiation, feasibility, and acceptability in psychodrama research. Change process research is reviewed in light of the latest evidence and methods, highlighting eleven therapeutic change factors in psychodrama and discussing concepts such as moderation, mediation, and mechanisms of change. Namaste Motherf*ckers: A modern manifesto for keeping cool when you’re a hot mess

by Cally Beaton

'Spins tales like Aisling Bea, has the hair and strength of Pippi Longstocking, and the punk edge of Debbie Harry. Do I want a Cally Beaton rebrand? Hell yeah.' - Sally Phillips'This is the best writing by Mrs Beaton since that cookbook' - Sandi Toksvig'A charming, witty guidebook for anyone who's ever felt like an invisible imposter' - Deborah Frances-WhitePart memoir, part stereotype-defying manifesto, Namaste Motherf*ckers is a funny, empowering, practical book that takes an irreverent look at the author's own story of radical midlife reinvention - taking her from meetings in the boardroom to becoming a stand-up comedian - thanks to a chance conversation with the late, great Joan Rivers encouraging her to make change happen.Sharing stories and experiences from her career, alongside lessons learned from the many celebrities and experts that have guested on her hit podcast of the same name, Cally challenges at every turn the age-old narrative that women become invisible when they cease to be fertile. It's also a book about defying the bullsh*t expectation that midlife women at best maintain (looks, career, relationships), at worst decline. With ambitious thinking and personal development takeouts from her time as a coach, Cally debunks many of the myths surrounding the female of the species and gives a fresh, funny and life-affirming look at what it means to be a middle-aged woman who is willing to take a chance, put herself out there and who is also willing to fail.

Dishonesty, Liability and the Law: Exploring the Moral Importance of Context (Routledge Studies in Law, Rights and Justice)

by Martin Wasik Sotirios Santatzoglou Anthony Wrigley

In 2017, in Ivey v. Genting Casinos, the Supreme Court judged that the dishonesty test is objective and should be the single one in use for any area of law. The judgment sparked some criticism regarding the inflexibility of an objective test. The subsequent 2020 Court of Appeal judgment in R. v. Barton confirmed the objective test in Ivey. However, little dedicated discussion and analysis of the dishonesty test has subsequently taken place, leaving a growing concern that the one currently in use may not be suitable for determining dishonesty in all contexts. This interdisciplinary collection challenges the idea of the single objective test by considering the issue of context in defining dishonesty. The volume is divided into three parts. The first focuses on the analysis of the concept of dishonesty and the dishonesty test, both in relation to context and its impact in determining whether or not liability arises. In the second part, the focus is on contexts of public and private dealings where dishonesty can be the reason to place liability or where its implications should be modified in order to limit liability. Finally, in the third part, the focus is on the context of healthcare practice and its interface with the conceptual dichotomy of honesty/dishonesty. The conclusion draws together shared themes, notably the issues of fairness and justice that arise from the work to demonstrate the definitional vacuum in the law on dishonesty. The book will be of interest to academics, researchers, policy-makers, and regulators working in law, ethics, or areas of professional regulation and misconduct, especially medicine, nursing, student academic misconduct, and politics. Similarly, there will be appeal to those working in relevant professional regulatory areas, such as law, healthcare, and sports governance.

Humanising Critical Journalistic Translation Studies: Insights from the Chinese Context (Routledge Advances in Translation and Interpreting Studies)

by Ali Jalalian Daghigh Pei Soo Ang

Ali Jalalian Daghigh and Pei Soo Ang’s book provides new insights into the relationships between translation, journalism, ideology, and power via a humanising approach. Carving out a niche within Journalistic Translation Studies, the book introduces and expands on Critical Journalistic Translation Studies (CJTS). The authors critically evaluate the state of the art while advocating for humanising research by focusing on the experiences of both translators and readers.Using the Chinese journalistic translation landscape as a case study, the book investigates the socio-political and socio-cognitive dimensions of journalistic translation. Through applications of sociological, cognitive, and critical discourse approaches, it sheds light on the working conditions of news translators, their cognitive and emotional experiences, the influence of power and ideology on the translation process, the effects of ideological manipulation on translated news texts, and the subsequent impact of such news on audience perceptions and emotions.By opening fresh methodological pathways, not only does this book illuminate the Chinese journalistic translation landscape, but it also opens new avenues in CJTS. This book is an indispensable resource for academics, postgraduate students, and researchers in Translation Studies, Media Studies, and Journalism Studies, offering a transformative focus on humanising CJTS.

Shadow Archaeologies: In the Shadow of Antiquity or For Other Modes of Archaeological Worldmaking (Archaeological Orientations)

by Gavin Lucas Assaf Nativ

Shadow Archaeologies explores the modes of knowledge production which operate where the light of mainstream, historically oriented archaeology does not reach. It exposes the field’s underbelly and dwells on issues that standard practice ignores or glosses over, questioning what archaeology and the archaeological are or could be.The volume brings together scholars working at the discipline’s theoretical cutting edge to challenge mainstream archaeology in various ways. They engage with the political dimensions of the discipline’s mode of production, develop alternate practices, and conceive of other manifestations of the archaeological object, thus illuminating various ways in which the concept of shadow archaeology can be articulated. After an introduction by the editors, the volume is organised into three parts, which address from different angles the politics, practices, and objects of an archaeology that resides in the shadow of antiquity. While the book will appeal to any archaeologist with an interest in theory, it is also a challenge to all archaeologists to reflect on their discipline and their own working practices and an invitation to join in the discussion about what archaeology might become.

Convergence and Cold War, 1953–1964 (The Routledge Global 1960s and 1970s Series)

by Austin Jersild

The academic debate in Western social science about the growing “convergence” or similarities between American and Soviet society acquired political significance in the diverse relationships that made up the global Cold War. Convergence and Cold War, 1953–1964 explores the consequences and challenges of convergence through a discussion of U.S.–Soviet relations, Sino-Soviet relations, and East–South relations. The book argues that the debate about convergence was a debate about the character of the broader Cold War itself, and the background to the more recent experience of contemporary globalization and its shared practices and norms. The volume begins by addressing how Americans debated the prospect of a less threatening socialist world shaped by the challenges of industrial modernity, while the Soviets hoped to imitate Western standards of living alongside developing supposedly more elevated forms of consumption, leisure, culture, trade, and economic exchange. The second section analyzes the way supporters of Chairman Mao in China associated the socialist bloc’s engagement with the West as an example of its deterioration and dangerous abandonment of socialist values and practices. The closing chapters examine how the Chinese communicated their frustration with the Soviets and East Europeans to postcolonial states in the Global South. Jersild unpacks this through a case study of Guinea-Conakry, which posed questions about the common practices and policies of the superpowers. This volume is a valuable resource to students and scholars of the Cold War and International Relations, as well as all those interested in postcolonial studies and the history of globalization.

Procreative Justice: Balancing the Interests of Parents, Children, and Society (Routledge Research in Applied Ethics)

by Erik Magnusson

This book explores how considerations of justice apply to procreative decision-making.Despite its immense personal significance, procreation is an inherently other-regarding endeavor. By its very nature, the decision to procreate is the decision to bring into existence another morally considerable being, one who will be exposed to the full range of harms, benefits, and risks that accompany a typical human life, and one who cannot by its nature ever consent to being born. Moreover, when this decision is undertaken in a community of persons, it is also a decision to affect the lives of others in a host of profound if often underappreciated ways, from its effects on population size and environmental sustainability to its consequences for a community’s distribution of resources. In many ways, of course, these interests coincide: adults need children for their parenting projects, societies need citizens for the maintenance of their institutions, and children themselves are often happy to have been brought into existence. However, as the book demonstrates, the various interests that are implicated by procreative decision-making can also come into conflict as well and in ways that raise basic questions of justice. Through a systematic examination of six of these questions, the author argues that taking adequate stock of the conflicting interests at stake in procreative decision-making leads to a narrower view of the conditions under which it is morally permissible to procreate and a much more demanding conception of our procreative responsibilities.Procreative Justice will be of interest to researchers and advanced students working on the morality of procreation and related areas of philosophy, including bioethics, intergenerational ethics, environmental ethics, population ethics, and the ethics of the family.
