Quantum-Dot Cellular Automata Based Digital Logic Circuits: A Design Perspective (Studies in Computational Intelligence #879)
by Anand Mohan Ashutosh Kumar Singh Trailokya Nath SasamalThis book covers several futuristic computing technologies like quantum computing, quantum-dot cellular automata, DNA computing, and optical computing. In turn, it explains them using examples and tutorials on a CAD tool that can help beginners get a head start in QCA layout design. It discusses research on the design of circuits in quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) with the objectives of obtaining low-complexity, robust designs for various arithmetic operations. The book also investigates the systematic reduction of majority logic in the realization of multi-bit adders, dividers, ALUs, and memory.
Balkan Worlds: The First and Last Europe (Subsidia Balcanica, Islamica Et Turcica Ser. #Vol. 1)
by Traian StoianovichEncompassing the period from the Neolithic era to the troubled present, this book studies the peoples, societies and cultures of the area situated between the Adriatic Sea in the west and the Black Sea in the east, between the Alpine region and Danube basin in the north and the Aegean Sea in the south. This is not a conventional history of the Balkans. Drawing upon archaeology, anthropology, economics, psychology and linguistics as well as history, the author has attempted a "total history" that integrates as many as possible of the avenues and categories of the Balkan experience.
AI Approaches for Designing and Evaluating Interactive Intelligent Systems: Selected and Revised Papers from RoCHI 2022 (Learning and Analytics in Intelligent Systems #36)
by Christophe Kolski Traian Rebedea Marian Cristian MihăescuDesigning, building, and evaluating Interactive and Intelligent Systems (IIS) has highly impacted the progress of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques due to advancements in the fields of Deep Learning (DL) and Natural Language Processing (NLP). This book presents in a structured way several practical use cases of the interplay between IIS and DL/NLP, from cognitive assistants, adaptive navigation systems, virtual reality, offensive comment and cyberbullying detection, 3D modelling, and driving behaviour detection. The convergence of AI and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has been proven to foster the IIS development that nowadays represents the most used context by actively integrating AI techniques in merely any layer of modern applications. The main goal of this book is to provide a practical reference with a rich set of approaches and applications consisting of selected and revised papers from the International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (RoCHI) 2022 thatwas held on 6-7 October 2022 at the University of Craiova, Romania. The book addresses researchers and practitioners with experience in IIS and AI (mainly DL and NLP) who want to study successfully developed workflows and applications that may be useful in their attempts to tackle issues from their contexts.Although the book nicely integrates concepts from various areas, each chapter may be considered a standalone topic with its research issue, proposed approach, experimental results, and discussions.
Nano-scale Heat Transfer in Nanostructures: Toward Understanding And Engineering Thermal Transport (SpringerBriefs in Applied Sciences and Technology)
by Jihong Al-Ghalith Traian DumitricăThe book introduces modern atomistic techniques for predicting heat transfer in nanostructures, and discusses the applications of these techniques on three modern topics. The study of heat transport in screw-dislocated nanowires with low thermal conductivity in their bulk form represents the knowledge base needed for engineering thermal transport in advanced thermoelectric and electronic materials, and suggests a new route to lower thermal conductivity that could promote thermoelectricity. The study of high-temperature coating composite materials facilitates the understanding of the role played by composition and structural characterization, which is difficult to approach via experiments. And the understanding of the impact of deformations, such as bending and collapsing on thermal transport along carbon nanotubes, is important as carbon nanotubes, due to their exceptional thermal and mechanical properties, are excellent material candidates in a variety of applications, including thermal interface materials, thermal switches and composite materials.
Trends in Computational Nanomechanics
by Traian DumitricaTrends in Computational Nanomechanics reviews recent advances in analytical and computational modeling frameworks to describe the mechanics of materials on scales ranging from the atomistic, through the microstructure or transitional, and up to the continuum. The book presents new approaches in the theory of nanosystems, recent developments in theoretical and computational methods for studying problems in which multiple length and/or time scales must be simultaneously resolved, as well as example applications in nanomechanics. This title will be a useful tool of reference for professionals, graduates and undergraduates interested in Computational Chemistry and Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology.

Trafford (Images of America)
by Trafford Historical SocietyTrafford, located in the hills east of Pittsburgh, was officially incorporated as a borough in 1904. John Cavett I and his family were among the first settlers in the area, after purchasing land in 1769. Tracks for the Pennsylvania Railroad were laid through in 1852, and the territory became known as Stewart Station. In 1902, land at Stewart Station was purchased by renowned entrepreneur George Westinghouse, with the purpose of constructing a foundry and town to be named Trafford City, after Trafford Park in Manchester, England. Western Pennsylvania newspapers advertised the sale of lots in Trafford City, and thousands of property seekers came pouring in. The plant thrived for the majority of the 20th century and was the key to Trafford’s growth as a borough. Today, with the plant long gone, Trafford survives as a quaint, community-oriented town with an industrial history that all Pittsburghers can appreciate.
