Still Starving After All These Years: The Hidden Origins of War, Oppression and Inequality

by Jeri Studebaker

Do you want an end to war and inequality? Civilizations the world over have produced spectacular innovations; monumental architecture, complex mathematics, magnificent art, and the invention of writing, to name a few. Civilizations have also produced several unsavory "innovations", which to the modern mind seem an inevitable part of living in civilized society. Large-scale architecture was invented to store hoarded food and other goods, produced by the enslaved masses but enjoyed by the powerful elite. Writing was invented to keep track of hoarded commodities. Institutionalized warfare was invented to steal slaves, who could produce more for the monumental storage containers. A striking parallel with today's governments' violent obsessions over endless growth. This prevailing mindset can and must be undone or else we risk the annihilation of humanity.

The Visitor

by Christopher Chase Walker

Satan, in the form of a bewildered and naked Old Man, arrives in Brighton one dark and snowy December morning. That night a gull kills itself trying to get at Lucy Cuthman, a charity worker in her early 30s, through her bedroom window. A thick fog descends over the city - and lingers. The Old Man is twice attacked on the streets, before finding the squat where Geoffrey Cantor, our cultured and Byron-quoting narrator, lives. The Old Man discovers he has a mesmeric singing voice, and starts to busk around Brighton. He attracts the attention of Lucy, who is so diabolically enchanted that she can only see him as a beautiful young boy in need of help. In this guise, the Old Man visits her at work one evening - and promptly disappears. Hopelessly beguiled, Lucy searches everywhere for him. Meanwhile, mysterious bundles of money start turning up at her charity...

Portalism: An Externalist Theory of Consciousness

by Jeffrey Laird

The mind is not the brain. The locus of our consciousness is in the world. Portalism embraces radical phenomenal externalism and represents a contemporary form of dualism that rejects materialist assumptions of mind/brain identity. As a philosophy of mind, Portalism breaks with traditional thinking in two significant ways: first by holding that consciousness is in fact a fifth fundamental force of nature endowed with behavioural attributes not unlike that of gravity, and second by arguing how consciousness inheres in all living organisms regardless of their biological sophistication. Portalism compels us to reject traditional monist theories about the nature of consciousness and boldly enter into a new way of thinking about our own reality.

Pagan Portals - Hellenic Paganism

by Samantha Leaver

Hellenic Paganism has been growing in interest for a number of years and steadily becoming a strong presence in neo-Paganism. As with most paths there are many differing practices in the Hellenic world, all underpinned by the values and ethics of what is understood to be the Hellenic way of life. This includes practitioners who simply believe and work with the Theoi and those that attempt the daunting task of reconstructing this beautifully rich and consuming religion. Hellenic Paganism explores the revitalisation and modernisation of ancient Greek life.

Pagan Portals - Blodeuwedd: Welsh Goddess of Seasonal Sovereignty

by Jhenah Telyndru

Like a gathering of flowers from hedge and field, or a cloak made of owl feathers, Blodeuwedd is a figure of great complexity. She is both Flower Maiden and Owl of Wisdom… unfaithful wife and representative of Sovereignty… fallen woman and feminist heroine… medieval cautionary tale and reclaimed divinity. Yet, for all of these seeming inconstancies, the key to understanding Blodeuwedd is being able to see her as a whole. Bringing together strands of Celtic lore, Welsh literature, British folk practice, and modern devotion, Celticist Jhenah Telyndru weaves a solid foundation from which scholars and seekers alike can come into deeper relationship with this oft-misunderstood figure. Ultimately, this journey to reclaim Blodeuwedd&’s identity - a Sovereignty Goddess who ensured the cycle of the seasons by choosing, in turn, to partner with the Solar Hero of Summer and the Otherworldly Champion of Winter - reveals a transformational mythic pathway that can also guide us in the reclamation of our own sovereignty.

Why an Afterlife Obviously Exists: A Thought Experiment and Realer Than Real Near-Death Experiences

by Jens Amberts

'Like a master attorney, Jens Amberts has marshaled an abundance of virtually irrefutable evidence in making the case for the thesis of his brilliant book, Why an Afterlife Obviously Exists. Basing his argument on four fundamental facts about near-death experiences (NDEs), Amberts has written a book that every serious student of NDEs, and especially skeptics, should be sure to read. On finishing it, I doubt any reader will not be convinced that death is not a dead end.' Kenneth Ring, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Psychology, University of Connecticut, author of Lessons from the LightWhy an Afterlife Obviously Exists is a philosophical argument demonstrating why the existence of an afterlife is beyond astronomically likely and hence empirically certain. It explains how we have every rational reason to think that people who have near-death experiences are not only telling the truth, but the book also argues that near-death experiencers are thoroughly justified in knowing that they visited the actual afterlife.

The Primacy of Loving: The Spirituality of The Heart

by David John Torkington

When love is lost within a family, catastrophic consequences follow. That is not just for the parents, but for the children, too, and society at large. When the God-given love that Jesus Christ introduced into the first Christian family was lost, similar consequences ensued. Loveless men and women not only do damage to themselves, but to others, too - inside and outside of the Church. This last spiritual and supreme masterpiece of a great spiritual master explains and details how the love that was lost can be put back and flourish where it once flourished before. This book is the long-awaited watershed that can slake the thirst of the dry weary land that has been yearning to receive it.

The Energetic Dimension: Understanding Our Karmic, Ancestral and Cultural Imprints

by Ann M. Drake

We are energy; our bodies, as well as all matter, are merely slowed down energy. We all have an energetic body that houses all our memories and experiences of all our lifetimes. We absorb energies from our families, our previous incarnations as well as from the culture in which we live. These energies often mask who we truly are and may block us from developing our true potential. Ways to recognize and work with these imprints are at the heart of the book. The Energetic Dimension offers a new paradigm for the West as to how we function as humans. It is a paradigm that is intuitively known by us but has not to date been articulated as it has in this book. This book explores the energetic web in which we are encased, ways to cultivate its strengths, and heal and remove the negative aspects of unwanted energies. The goal is to be able to shed the layers that block us from truly experiencing our core essence and who we truly are.

I Wonder: Mind-Freeing Encounters With God

by Nathan Aaseng

'Nathan Aaseng asks the &“God questions&” about which many of us wonder but rarely have the honesty to explore. Weaving together story, life experience, science, humor, and hope, Aaseng stitches together a quilt of Christianity that faithfully lifts up the God of grace and pointedly rejects the easy answers of popular religion. With the heart of a pastor, the wit of a humorist, the eloquence of a bard, the clarity of a scientist, and the depth of a theologian, the reader is led onto holy ground to see the God of mercy, justice, and love. Laypersons will be enlightened. Clergy will delight in the way Aaseng addresses the ponderings of their flocks with the solid grounding of Scripture.' Duane Pederson, former Lutheran bishop and Visiting Professor at Yale Divinity SchoolMany Christian leaders today promote rigid doctrine that says, &“Never doubt. Never question&”. This insistence has been demonstrably disastrous for the church because the first step in any faith formation is to wonder. Nathan Aaseng revives the gift of wonder in seeking a fuller, more awesome experience of God. It welcomes unsettling questions, that are too often dismissed with pat answers.

Human Wrongs: British Social Policy and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

by T. J. Coles

A devastating analysis of modern Britain. Britain is a forward-thinking, human-rights protecting beacon of democracy, right? Think again! Written in time for the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, this book is a documented exposé of Britain's domestic human rights abuses under successive governments from the year 2000 to the present. It covers the deaths of the 20,000 pensioners a year who can't afford heating, the 40,000 people who succumb to air pollution each year, the limits on freedom of speech (including libel law), mass surveillance of Britons by the deep state, and much, much more. By comparing Britain to other rich countries on issues as diverse as infant mortality, child wellbeing, ethnic rights, and union membership, Human Wrongs reveals just how anti-human the British system really is for people of a certain class, gender, disability and/or ethnicity.

Other Communions of Jesus: Eating and Drinking the Good News Way

by John Henson

Mass, Eucharist, Holy Communion, The Lord's Supper, Breaking of Bread—the communal meal stands at the center of worship in most Christian traditions. In this new edition of John Henson's classic, we are again confronted with the question, Have we been doing it right? John Henson suggests that by basing our practice and understanding of communion on the event of the Betrayal Night we have ignored those other occasions when Jesus ate and drank with the people of his day, with the result that we have reversed the intentions of Jesus. These studies challenge us to return to the practice of Jesus and to a joyful, inclusive and bountiful celebration.

Sing Out for Justice: The Poetry and Passion of the Hebrew Prophets

The Circle of Life is Broken: An Eco-Spiritual Philosophy of the Climate Crisis (Earth Spirit)

by Brendan Myers

The Circle of Life is more than the food web. It's a self-organizing system of global life-cooperation and energy dissipation. Its balance and stability have been taken for granted for millennia. But in the age of the climate crisis, the Circle is breaking down. From the 1960s onward, philosophers, artists and spiritual teachers promoted the idea of the &‘Green Self' to help us understand how the Circle works, and how we harm ourselves when we damage it. But in all that time, the climate crisis only got worse. The Greening of the Self didn't happen. Using the science of ecology and a deep dive into human nature, this book explores what the Circle of Life really is, and what becomes of us when we face it in different ways. The exploration reveals a deeper eco-spiritual perspective, in which the Immensity of the Earth, and the breakdown of the Circle, are calls to action: to heal the Circle, and to create a better world.

You Are a Frequency: How Personal Vibration Influences Health, Well-Being and Development

by Debbie Anne Sellwood

A transformation in human consciousness is taking place. And it's generating a growing interest in how subtle elements of the human constitution play a part in the maintenance of our health and wellbeing. You Are a Frequency introduces a new paradigm for health and healing based on the whole person, not the physical body on which traditional medicine focuses. In this book, Debbie Sellwood describes the human being's various energy systems, indicating that everything - animal, vegetable and mineral - has its own unique vibration. She explains how these energy bodies influence our health and wellbeing, that the physical body is a medium for the consciousness of the energy bodies. You Are a Frequency explains that how we perceive and react to life events determine what experiences we attract into our lives, including health. Our reactions also impact the frequency of our vibrations, and by raising our vibrations, we become more empowered, able to take responsibility for ourselves. It is the author's belief that understanding ourselves as energetic beings will ultimately inspire a future health paradigm and lead to the transformation of the medical system. This book will appeal to the increasing number of people who are aware of a spiritual component to their existence, who want to understand who they really are, and their potential, at a more holistic level. The times in which we live are causing us to acknowledge that there is more to life, and to ourselves, than meets the eye - you are more than you think!
