Two Hawks From Earth
by Philip Jose FarmerFarmer writes: This novel was first published in 1966 and then in 1971 as The Gate of Time. That was not my title. I have no idea why the editors changed it, since this is not a time-travel tale, and their tale certainly was misleading. So I have restored the original, Two Hawks From Earth. The editors of that house also rewrote a scene to bowdlerize it. This was done without my knowledge, and so I have restored that scene. Also, I have added about ten thousand words. These include some chapters which go beyond the original ending.

No Place Like Home: A New Beginning with the Dogs of Afghanistan
by Pen FarthingMarley and Me meets Bravo Two Zero, in this sequel to One Dog at a Time: Saving the Strays of Afghanistan. Nowzad was a gentle giant when it came to taking treats. He never, ever snatched. To me it was just further evidence that, deep inside, there was a great dog struggling to find his way out. When Pen Farthing brings stray dogs Nowzad and Tali back from his tour of Afghanistan, little does he know what he has begun. Suddenly he has four dogs to look after—two of whom have never been housetrained. And soon he is inundated with requests from other Marines and soldiers to help bring their rescued dogs home. Whether it's little Helmand, Fubar, or Beardog, Pen does his utmost to give these dogs the chance they deserve. This is the story of one man's courage and persistence as he struggles to give his dogs at home, and those still in Afghanistan, the best possible chance. It will warm—and break—the hearts of dog lovers everywhere.

God's Empowering Presence: The Holy Spirit in the Letters of Paul
by Gordon D. Fee"Fee's book is the most comprehensive treatment available of Paul's understanding of the Holy Spirit, a topic that has rarely received sufficient attention in studies of Pauline theology. Fee's method is exemplary: he first analyzes Paul's statements about the Spirit, in each individual letter, and then moves to a synthesis of Paul's general pneumatology. The result is a book that is deeply exegetical, doing justice both to the particularity of Paul's writings and to the fundamental unity of his vision for the Spirit's role in the life of the Christian community. Most importantly, Fee emphasizes insistently that the Holy Spirit must be experienced as a living presence within the church. That message is both faithful to Paul and urgent for the community of faith in our time."--Richard B. Hays, professor of New Testament, Duke University Divinity School.
