Can Bookshare scan textbooks that are not eligible for placement in the NIMAC?

We do add textbooks as needed by students.  The textbooks must be assigned as classroom reading in an accredited educational program, including K-12 and postsecondary.  

If you can send us a copy of the textbook needed (with the understanding that it will not be returned), this can improve our response time and help stretch our resources.  If not, we will purchase a copy, scan and proofread it, and get it in the collection for the benefit of qualifying students.  

Whether you provide the book or we purchase it, the chopping, scanning and proofreading process can take up to three months, so the earlier a request is made, the better.

Place a book request as soon as possible, since the conversion process is complex, and we can't guarantee a specific turnaround time.
